This policy covers the current, free version of ZAAL. If subscriptions are turned back on later, this policy will be updated to also disclose purchase data collected by the App Store or Google Play before that version is released.
What we collect
Parent contact info (email or phone). During account setup, a parent enters an email address or phone number. We send a one-time 6-digit verification code to it via Supabase (our backend provider) to confirm the parent owns it. This is the only server-side data ZAAL collects. We do not use it for marketing and do not share it with advertisers.
App progress and settings. Your child's age group, chosen language, stars, badges, stickers, and lesson progress are saved only on your device (local storage). This information is never sent to us or to any third party.
Nothing else. ZAAL has no advertising SDKs and no analytics/tracking SDKs of any kind. We do not collect location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera data. We do not use your device's advertising identifier.
How verification codes are handled
Verification codes are sent and checked through Supabase Auth. Supabase keeps a record of the email/phone that was verified, and the app keeps a sign-in session for it on your device solely so that you can delete the account from inside the app (see below). We do not access, read, or use this record for anything beyond verification and account deletion.
Children's privacy
ZAAL is designed for children, and is used under a parent or guardian's supervision. Only an adult can complete account setup (the birth-year check requires an age of 13 or older). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, and no child-directed screen in the app asks for contact information.
Your choices
You can stop using ZAAL and delete it at any time; all locally-stored progress (your child's age group, language, stars, badges, stickers, and lesson progress) is removed automatically the moment the app is uninstalled, since none of it is ever sent to us.
Deleting your account
You can delete your ZAAL parent account from inside the app at any time: open Settings (enter your parent passcode), scroll to Delete account, tap it and confirm. If the app asks, enter the 6-digit code sent to your email or phone to confirm it's you.
- What is deleted: the verification record tied to your email/phone (held by Supabase, our backend provider) is deleted immediately, and the parent passcode, your child's progress and all settings are erased from the device.
- After deletion: the app returns to first-time setup. Using ZAAL again requires creating a new account.
- Need help? If you no longer have the app installed, email bahar.bahreman@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my ZAAL account," naming the email address or phone number you used, and we will delete the record within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If ZAAL's data collection changes (for example, when subscriptions are reintroduced), this page will be updated and the "Effective date" above will change accordingly.
